North Carolina Ski Area Association(NCSAA) is a conglomerate of all six ski mountains in North Carolina and a long term partner of ours. Their goal is to showcase the activities they offer, in montage type videos, to their target audience of families in the southeast. Our team utilizes their skills of skiing and snowboarding to capture dynamic clips of families, friends, and children flying down the mountain.
We use cutting edge equipment like dual operator gimbals to track with subjects while keeping the shots stable and well composed. Our co-founder, Dominic, is incredibly talented on a snowboard. He rides down the mountain with our camera gimbal setup, keeping up with talent, while our other co-found, Zach, controls framing of the shot remotely. This setup allows Dominic to concentrate on his line down the hill while making sure he is in the correct position and distance from the talent to capture the perfect shot. This requires coordination among our team, utilizing radios for communication and ensuring the talent is informed about the plan and objectives for each shot.
We also use single and dual operator drones to capture views from the air, depending on what the shot requires. Dual operator drones allow the pilot to focus on piloting the drone, while the camera is controlled separately. Single operator drones are smaller, allowing them to be kept with us in a backpack and flown from areas only accessible by skiing.
